Coorg Trip Part 2

Now this weekend im again going to coorg so i thought before that ill write wat happend in the house.U see now i belong to a family called mandetira(yeah thats the name and i am a coorgi oopss kodavati now).I thought a family filled with people maybe a max of 10 or 15 people might turn up.But i was in for a shock. The entire family living was there to welcome me in the family and i was very very happy.I was told that the older aunts and uncles are very very strict (atleast that was the case in my family) but i was in for a surprise.Almost 50 people of all ages were there. They cooked and spoke and me being the new entry just sat and sat and sat and also looked at them and smiled when i understood atleast a little of wat they were talking.God it was so boring sitting and doing absolutely nothing.

Thats when it struck to me about the book i had in the car.Richard Branson's biography"how i lost my virginity"(Yeah the title sounds bizzare but its an awesome book read it if u have not).So i sat down reading that book and thats when they also realised that i was getting bored and decided to give me a tour.In madikeri there is a lot to see.So i went and saw pigs(yeah yeah they are bred at home)and coffee estates where oranges, sweetlimes and pepper is grown.Trust me they thought people from bangalore are dumb and have not seen anything but buildings. And i could do nothing but listen and nod my head(actually i was also laughing inside when they showed me a dog and said "see see Pallavi thats a dog ").
By the time i was back cooking was done and man the entire family got together for the pooja.I was amazed when i dint see a poojari.I thought he was somewhere in the room but no the pooja was not the elaborate one.The head of the family just spoke a few words and offerred food and drink to god and then it was over. Now time to drink and eat and how can i forget dance.
This is kodava culture and they seem very very happy about this.Everything is just so different here(Including the way they drink coffee they dont drink filter coffee and no idea wat that means). No matter wat happens there are always there for the family members. And not to forget the food is soooo yummy.
Having met so many people all together its a great feeling. In the age of nuclear families having such a big family is so great.Im looking forward for the next meet. And hopefully by then ill also learn how to talk coorgi and instead of reading i can converse. So until the next meeting this is Pallavi saying 'Barla'

Good to read your note but dont take my comments personal.
Let me tell you why coorgi's dont have poojari to do pooja for them. Thats because, they believe that their soul is pure enough to directly connect with god and they dont need any mediators between them and god.
Secondly, I'm surpried on your comment about someone so innocent to show you a dog.Are you sure it was a dog or a tiger? Coorgi's are known for their education, lifestyle and bravery. They lead more sophesticated lives than any of us in cities and are much more educated. Acting as innocent as introducing a dog to you is the last thing we can expect from the dumbest of the coorgies.

Pigs are bred even in the foreign countries. The reason why coorgies breed pigs at home is because they want to ensure they are eating the quality meat that is the output of their home breeding unlike us who can eat anything and everything available in the market.
Next time dont add lines just to add masala to your blog. Be sure about what you are writing and about whom.
Apart from this, everything else well said.

Dude/dear lady,.. sometimes when people come from cities... the elders are the place are excited to see their relations coming home and they tend to behave like this!
this just shows the LOVE ...
and i dont think ITS DUMB and it hasnt got anything to do with BRAVERY etc!

@Anonymous
First lemme tell u im a Coorgi oops Kodavati(Actually became one 5 months ago)...and please dont be offended by what i have written.I think u have not understood the inner meaning of this blog.Anyways i said i was surprised that there was a pooja without a poojari and i think that was perfectly ok but for me it was THE FIRST TIME!!!
Second my aunt who showed me the dog thought i have never seen one and so she showed me one and if that has not come i think i should make it clear here.
Third i know EVERYTHING about pig reering coz i belong to a family that does it!!!So again im telling u understand the inner meaning and please dont be offended by anything!!!

looks like few comments which were fact about kodva culture are deleted from you lady! If u can write u shud also have the ability to read what ppl have to say. Now u know just commenting on a culture is so easy! "pallvi see see a dog"! BULL SHIT
