Car Pooling!!!

U know i think a year ago we saw a small article on TOI about car pooling and that time i thought this was a brilliant idea.I mean a person who made this thinks about bangalore so much.Hats off to Mr.Vipul..i still remember his photograph(he sitting inside a car). That day i even put him on air..and asked him some questions about car pooling.Thats when Pavi came up with a great idea of doing the entire car pooling event on air..We even did it for 2 weeks....but after that the fizz was out...not many banglorians are open to the idea (not that they have changed now).

Then as usual complaining about traffic every single day...yelling at Police and ofcourse yelling at others continued and increased day to day!!!U know if one person has to go a small shop which is 200 mts away they use a car.People go to gym to be fit and they use their car ( Cant they just walk and finish the warm up) not only that a lot of peolpe who go to parks and lakes for walk also come by car and then start walking (again cant they walk and finish it there).I mean everyone is adding to the problem ( but no one wants to accept it!!Oie enough gyaan!!!)

Today we have made an attempt to decongest the city(ditto copy from our studio liner).Actually its a choice that we have given to all...u wanna use it or not its completely left to u but then the choice is given.Thats car pooling.Instead of 4 people who go to the same office from almost the same place using 4 cars we give them a platform to get together and use only one car. With this we are helping from our end to cut the traffic down.

Its a superb idea..atleast for a short term until the metro is done and we have nice public transport system (atleastthats wat our additional commissioner of Police said ).We can make new friends and have fun while driving.NOt only that a lot can be saved...first energy (coz one week only u have to drive in a month if u have 3 others)..then money (u spend just about 14rs per lt petrol instead of 57rs) and then stress levels will also come down.Wow all of this with just one small initiative...man internet rocks.

Now i know that no one can car pool with me coz my timings is a little odd but nontheless i have registered and hoping one more person will come along. The rest of u common login to www.commuteeasy.com and register...Who knows maybe ur next friend is waiting for u!!!!

Until our next CSR this is Pallavi saying Barla!!!!

The Day i met Kapil Dev

Yeah i know a dream come true for a true cricket fan.The day is today.21st November 2008.My dad called and asked if the news was true.So did my bro and even my next door uncle.Everyone was super excited that i was meeting the man who was solely resposible for the great world cup win (i know i know i was not even born then..).All of us were getting ready to meet him.I was a little disappointed that he was not on my show....but then its ok i still got to talk to him.The bats, balls and stumps were ready!!!Arrey not for a match but for his autograph(i remembered the scene in Iqbal movie when we were asking him to sign) and so was the cake for him.
Finally after a lot of wait he arrived!!
Wat a personality..as he was walking the only thing i was thinking is" he is the man..he is just THE MAN".Yeah as a official welcome we all clapped for him as he walked and gave him a bompu horn welcome also (yeah radio one is wacky). He was just taken aback and he asked 'is everything ok?'
Yeah those were the first words of his...wow..he should have been on radio instead(very very husly voice..remember the Palmolive ad???).Then he headed straight to the studio for the Interview with Pavithra.
Very sweety he answered all the questions and very humbly he answered all the questions.
I will try and post all the answers in the next blog but one answer i remember is this:
Pavi : Who is the one cricketer that u like the most now?
KD: In the present team i really like Dhoni. The reason is simple he just does wat his heart tells him to do.He is very passionate about the game and is very humble and honest.
Wow a great cricketer just like him talking so high about another crciketer..u dont see such things nowadays. The thing that i loved about paaji is he was also very very honest about all that he said.
U know Pavi said namaskaara bengaluru in one link and he asked why begaluru and not bangalore.I mean we were all arguing with him saying its for good...and the only thing he said in the end was this "we are all Indians first and thats wat we need to believe. Its bigger than anything else including religion.Dont force anyone to do anything.Live and let live
(I can still hear all the things that he said in my head.)Why dont you all start a debate as to wat we want Bangalore to be called as.You do have the most important tool.Voice and people who listen to you".
We all had nothing to say.And the he just said no matter wat u cant convince me.But thats wat we are.We allow people to push us to limits. What he said was absolutely right. At that point i thought he is not only a great cricketer but also a great human being.
Then we continued asking him some fun questions like whom he wants to kiss on world kiss day and he sang a song for us Kiss kiss kisse pyar karoon (And we played it!!!).How he bowled his wife over and loads of other questions. After that we atlast let him go (though we dint want to).
Not before we all stood with him for a photograph and even though i made it very clear i needed a single photo with him everyone came and stood beside me (jealous!!!!).
WE then made him cut a cake and that time i stood with him for a photograph.I even told him that i am the official cake cutter in the company. So he made me cut the cake with him..very very sweet man who hates sweet by the way and loves samosas(damn wat a day not to get them)!!
But then it was a great time with a great man...Would love to meet him again!!!
So until we meet again and i write again this is Pallavi saying ba bye!!!
(Yeah yeah i am a RJ how else would u expect this to end??)

Coorg Trip Part 2

Now this weekend im again going to coorg so i thought before that ill write wat happend in the house.U see now i belong to a family called mandetira(yeah thats the name and i am a coorgi oopss kodavati now).I thought a family filled with people maybe a max of 10 or 15 people might turn up.But i was in for a shock. The entire family living was there to welcome me in the family and i was very very happy.I was told that the older aunts and uncles are very very strict (atleast that was the case in my family) but i was in for a surprise.Almost 50 people of all ages were there. They cooked and spoke and me being the new entry just sat and sat and sat and also looked at them and smiled when i understood atleast a little of wat they were talking.God it was so boring sitting and doing absolutely nothing.

Thats when it struck to me about the book i had in the car.Richard Branson's biography"how i lost my virginity"(Yeah the title sounds bizzare but its an awesome book read it if u have not).So i sat down reading that book and thats when they also realised that i was getting bored and decided to give me a tour.In madikeri there is a lot to see.So i went and saw pigs(yeah yeah they are bred at home)and coffee estates where oranges, sweetlimes and pepper is grown.Trust me they thought people from bangalore are dumb and have not seen anything but buildings. And i could do nothing but listen and nod my head(actually i was also laughing inside when they showed me a dog and said "see see Pallavi thats a dog ").
By the time i was back cooking was done and man the entire family got together for the pooja.I was amazed when i dint see a poojari.I thought he was somewhere in the room but no the pooja was not the elaborate one.The head of the family just spoke a few words and offerred food and drink to god and then it was over. Now time to drink and eat and how can i forget dance.
This is kodava culture and they seem very very happy about this.Everything is just so different here(Including the way they drink coffee they dont drink filter coffee and no idea wat that means). No matter wat happens there are always there for the family members. And not to forget the food is soooo yummy.
Having met so many people all together its a great feeling. In the age of nuclear families having such a big family is so great.Im looking forward for the next meet. And hopefully by then ill also learn how to talk coorgi and instead of reading i can converse. So until the next meeting this is Pallavi saying 'Barla'
